A Seat at the Table showcases local textile and surface designers in an installation that intentionally overwhelms with patterns, colors, light and sound. It is a reimagining of how the world could be different if women and people of color had not been excluded from all major decision making. It is a space intended for discussion - both mediated and spontaneous. By making everyone feel uncomfortable, can we simultaneously make everyone feel comfortable? In what ways might an artistic movement redistribute notions of power, visibility, gaze, and profit? Our submission will be an art piece/ design showcase/ installation that will stay up for the duration of Design Philadelphia with a planned discussion at the table. DISCUSSION AT THE TABLE: Sunday 10/6 2pm POP UP SHOP: Saturday 10/5 -Sunday 10/6, Saturday 10/12-Sunday 10/13
